National Parks

Mary Edna has visited 35 National Parks in her 67 years. Photographing from the air, studying maps and satellite imagery, and exploring on the ground inform her work as an environmental artist whose career is devoted to the protection of public landscapes. Fraser’s methods employ painting on location as inspiration for large-scale works, displaying grand vistas and the beauty of a specific place in time.

Fraser is currently engaged in a series of in-depth studies that will become a traveling exhibition, highlighting our country’s most cherished preserves. She spent two weeks as artist-in-residence at Sperry Chalet in Glacier National Park, completing fourteen oils and a series of larger scale works.
