Project: GulfQuest, the National Maritime Museum of the Gulf of Mexico
Above Mobile Bay was commissioned by the National Maritime Museum of the Gulf of Mexico to be permanently suspended in the central atrium of the lobby. The three silk panels are modeled after a ship’s sails and depict the aerial view of the gulf. The 21-foot tall and 30-foot wide sculpture is made of heavy silk. The massive project required seven 45-inch panels to be dyed separately, then seamed together and cut on the bias.
This project won recognition from CODAWorx for the collaboration of art & design.
