Hobcaw Barony Discovery Center, Georgetown, SC. 7/2008
“In the fall of 2009 I flew in a 172 aircraft with an instructor and photographed from Georgetown to Cape Fear. the water was emerald green and fires were burning everywhere, but it was a clear day. This commission is a combination of four photographs looking from the Atlantic Ocean across the North Inlet, with Debidue Beach on the right in the foreground. The silk is heavy herringbone twill and I tried to show the expanse of the Barony with variations of the landscape from coast to marsh and forest. I have flown this area many times and cherish this historic Low-country site.”
